The alarm goes off at 7:30, sunny morning here in St. George! ☀️
Mini-breakfast and the luggage loaded, we are ready to leave. A trip of about the 2:30 to Las Vegas. First stop, Mesquite. A mini vegas on our route. We spot the first casinos and have a little gamble. No luck, but no luck in the game, lucky in love!
We can not wait anymore to drive further to “The Fabulous City of Vegas”. Through Boulder City we drive to the Hoover Dam. The Hoover Dam supplies all electricity facilities in the Nevada desert and beyond. The dam stands between Lake Mead and the Colorado River and between two states, Nevada and Arizona. Funny when you walk over the dam, you walk from one state to another.
Now straight to, yeaaaaah baby! VIVA LAS VEGAS!
The temperature rises to around 33 degrees. So we drive in style throughout the “Strip” and marvel us to the many luxury hotels like the Vegas Empire, Caesar’s Palace, MGM Grand, The Venetian, Paris, etc. We continue to Downtown Las Vegas and pass the “Gold & Silver Pawn Shop” known from the television series Pawn Stars. The queue to get in was a little too long. So we definitely come back later in the day.
A walk through downtown Las Vegas brings us to the past of the glamour of Las Vegas, multiple stores can be found here, where you can get all kinds of curiosities from the 50’s and 60’s.
Matches of old hotels, hand-drawn pictures from superstars such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe. We dream for a moment and ask each other, what would you choose if you could choose one thing here?
We check in at our hotel for our first night: “Paris”! Which has a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. We quickly retrieve the key and put on our swimwear. With some nice cocktails and appetizers we take a swim in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. Unique, unless you take a dip in the fountain in Paris itself that stands opposite…
We freshen up and go to Downtown Las Vegas. We don’t want to miss the ‘Fremont Experience’. Fremont Street is the street where the glory years of Vegas have taken place. The Golden Nugget, Four Queens,.. All top casino’s.
The street has been transformed with a ceiling of led lighting which plays a ‘show’ every hour. On the way, we pick up some live performances with impersonators of Elvis and Bon Jovi.
We sing along with all the great ‘Oldies-but-Goldies’ with a one-meter-long Pina Colada.
Can’t we just stay here forever? Pretty please?
There is even more entertainment over here, such as imitators of Kiss, a snake-man, street rappers and so much more.
Vegas, we love you. BIG TIME!
