Road Trip USA – Day 13 – From Santa Cruz to Santa Monica

The longest ride of our whole trip is today. We explore the coastline from Santa Cruz to Santa Monica. This ride we can make trough Highway 1, the original highway that connects North to South along the “Pacific Ocean”. The most beautiful Highway if you ask me! See for yourself.

First stop of the day, Monterey! Immediately, our first introduction to the wonderful panoramic views of the day. Along the Giovata tune, we pass the Big Sur. The route zigzags in several turns, at different heights. We stop at a place where there are dozens of squirrels. They are so tame they eat out of our hands. And with a little luck we can even pick one up.

San Simeon, here you can find hundreds of Seal Elephants. Under the light of the Piedras Blancas lighthouse, these animals come back year after year to shore. Enjoying the sun, play in the water and just relax.

Some amazing shots I have to share with you all!

Our next stop is Malibu.

Santa Monica, our final stop! 375 miles or 600 km drive in 10h.

We are happy that we are finally there, but also glad that we could enjoy all the beauty along the way.

A quick stop at the Santa Monica Pier. On the pier we find many street vendors, carnival rides and of course restaurants.
